Visio

When presented with the site in Chambly, a quiet suburban Residential neighborhood, and asked to design a cultural center, the challenge was finding a way to animate the city as well as the at site. The main idea was to create an architecture that offered public quality indoor and outdoor spaces. When merging qualities of city, forest and alcoves, different pockets of spaces emerged, where the users could experience both the spacial quality of a home while at the same time experiencing large open activity areas. Through layering, nesting and fragmentation, the users are immersed within the architecture and experience new interactions by responding to its complexity.
